W.Hoffmann Grand Pianos - Tradition of German Sound Excellence
W.Hoffmann Grand Pianos are a symbol of the long-standing tradition of German piano craftsmanship. This renowned brand was founded in Berlin in 1904 by Wilhelmine Sophie Friederike Hoffmann, at a time when classical music and the art of playing pianos reached their zenith. Since then, W.Hoffmann pianos have gained recognition and consistent trust both in Germany and internationally.
Originally operating in Berlin, the brand quickly gained a reputation as a producer of high-quality instruments. However, due to the lack of qualified workers, production was moved to the Mittelfranken region in 1950. In the area of 42,000 m² in Langlau, a team of 160 skilled specialists pursued excellence in the art of piano construction, using the highest quality materials and extensive knowledge of piano craftsmanship.
A pivotal moment in the company's history was the acquisition of W.Hoffmann by the esteemed piano manufacturer C. Bechstein in 1991. As a result of focusing on the new Bechstein production facility outside Berlin, the production of W.Hoffmann pianos was moved to Seifhennersdorf in Saxony in 1992.
Precision and Handcrafting
Each W.Hoffmann grand piano is a work of carefully skilled craftsmen with extensive experience in building these instruments. Traditional production methods, such as hand-finishing, precise tuning, and the use of the highest quality wood and materials, allow for achieving a perfect sound that delights both pianists and listeners.
Currently, after moving production to Hradec Králové in the Czech Republic, W.Hoffmann grand pianos continue their journey to excellence under the watchful eye of German management and in cooperation with Czech experts. Thanks to their rich tradition and modern approach, W.Hoffmann pianos remain a source of pride in the German piano heritage while winning musicians' hearts worldwide with their excellent sound quality and splendid craftsmanship.
