This Young Chang Y-114 features an A-class northern spruce soundboard crafted for excellent sound transmission. The soundboard design incorporates a specially shaped low-register section—resembling a rounded speaker with folded contours—that improves vibration efficiency and enriches resonance, producing a full, deep tone.

The action is engineered for expressive control: it comprises approximately 4,500 individual components, each manufactured to an error tolerance of 5/100 mm. Key action parts are made from hard maple to minimise deformation under extended use and to ensure consistent response over time.

The keyboard uses wood selected for lower specific gravity combined with higher elasticity, delivering a touch that feels both soft and firmly controlled, allowing nuanced dynamics and articulation from the performer.
