Of the many companies involved in the production of high-end piano, few enjoy such a reputation, recognition and centuries-long history as the Czech Petrof. Today Petrof, it is an international company, producing grand pianos, upright pianos and organs, exporting them to more than 60 countries around the world.
The history of the Petrof brand
This famous brand was established as a family business in 1864, when Anton Petrof, a Czech living in Vienna, built his first concert piano.
By 1918, the company was one of the main suppliers of instruments to the Austro-Hungarian court, and in the interwar period it was merged with the American Steinway. Petrof spent the second half of the 20th century as a state-owned enterprise nationalised by the Communist authorities in Czechoslovakia, and it was not until 1991 that it was returned to the family, which still manages it today.
Innovation and high quality of Petrof piano
Petrof’s operations combine tradition with a professional and modern approach. They have the first reflection-free chamber in the Czech Republic, which is used for perfect calibration of instruments. In addition, they regularly conduct research as part of their Research and Development Department. The company was awarded the European Excellence Certificate in 2007 for its professionalism. Awarded to the most high quality products from the European Union.
