W.Hoffmann Upright Pianos: Tradition of German Sound Excellence
W.Hoffmann upright pianos, named after the founder Wilhelmine Sophie Friederike Hoffmann, represent a long-standing tradition of German piano craftsmanship. The brand was established in Berlin in 1904, during the golden age of classical music and piano artistry. Since then, W.Hoffmann pianos have gained recognition and trust both in Germany and on the international stage.
Originally based in Berlin, the brand quickly gained a reputation as a producer of high-quality upright pianos. However, due to a lack of skilled workers, production was relocated to the Mittelfranken region in 1950. Over 42,000 square meters in Langlau, a team of 160 skilled specialists strived for excellence in piano craftsmanship, using the highest-quality materials and extensive knowledge.
A pivotal moment in the company’s history was the acquisition of W.Hoffmann by the esteemed piano manufacturer C. Bechstein in 1991. As a result of consolidation at the new Bechstein production facility outside Berlin, production of W.Hoffmann pianos was moved to Seifhennersdorf, Saxony, in 1992.
