“Alles klar” is a popular colloquial German expression that has numerous connotations, depending on how it is used. But it literally translates in English to “All Clear” – an appropriate description of this very unconventional Schimmel ‘Glas’ Art Case grand.

This is a perplexing instrument. There’s something fascinating about being able to ‘see through its skin’ and behold the intricate skeleton and mechanical inner workings that are normally not visible. Schimmel went to great lengths to enhance this experience by making the structural inner rim, frame, and cast-iron plate a brilliant white that almost glows through the transparent crystal-like cabinetry.

Like an atrium, ‘Glas’ allows daylight in through its clear lid and sides.
